The private bathroom with a shower and free toiletries was great. We felt refreshed and pampered after a long day of exploring.
Personally, we found the stovetop a bit tricky to use. It took us some time to figure out the right settings.

The chalet at The Windy Roost was absolutely cozy and inviting. From the moment I stepped inside, I felt right at home. The private entrance gave it an extra touch of exclusivity, making me feel like I had my very own hideaway in Occumster. I loved having my own private bathroom with a shower. It was so convenient to have everything I needed right there, including free toiletries. It made getting ready in the mornings a breeze, especially after a long day of exploring.
Personally, I wasn't a fan of the stovetop in the chalet. While it might suit others just fine, I prefer having a full kitchen for more cooking options.

We had an amazing stay at a cozy cabin near Wick & John O Groats along the NC500 route. the hosts, Mandy and Pete, were welcoming and friendly, and the attention to detail in the cabin was impressive. We enjoyed sitting outside with our coffee, taking in the beautiful sea view. the cabin had all modern amenities and the beds were incredibly comfortable, providing us with a restful night's sleep. We only booked for one night but wished we could have stayed longer.
A fantastic place to recharge during your NC500 trip. Cons: No complaints 😊.

Excellent location for NC500. Wonderful cosy cabin with everything you need. Really comfy beds slept great, very peaceful. Nice and warm too, wouldn't have known it was windy outside. Family of 4 and a dog, and all facilities were great. Plenty of towels and hot water. Cooked a full meal in the kitchen without any problems. Fenced area of AstroTurf just out front so we could let the dog out regularly and safely. Visited the Caster Cairns, a little treasure 5 minutes away. So glad we found it!
Can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

The private bathroom with a shower and free toiletries was such a relief after a long day of exploring! It felt like I was treating myself to a spa experience. I loved having a private entrance to the chalet. It gave me a sense of privacy and independence, like I had my own little hideaway in the beautiful surroundings. Having an electric kettle and kitchenware in the chalet was such a convenience. I could make my own hot drinks and even prepare some simple meals when I wanted to save some money.
The lack of a stovetop in the chalet was a bit disappointing. I enjoy cooking my own meals sometimes, and having a stovetop would have made it easier.

I had a lovely warm welcome from the owners on arrival at the hotel. The location was excellent for the NC500 route and provided a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. The cabin itself was wonderful - cozy and well-equipped with everything I needed. The beds were really comfortable and I had a great night's sleep. Despite the windy weather outside, the cabin was nice and warm. The hotel facilities were fantastic, with a fully equipped kitchen where I was able to cook a full meal. The fenced area of AstroTurf was perfect for letting my dog out safely. The nearby Caster Cairns, as recommended by the owners, were a hidden gem and a lovely spot to visit.
Could not be improved in any way.
